Go Green Asks the Candidates

LEARN

Did you know we have another election on November 2?  This one is for the Civic Betterment Committee (CBC) Candidates.  These candidates, if elected, would serve in Village offices beginning in 2025.  As with any election, your vote is your voice!  We encourage you to learn more about this election, the voting process, and of course, the candidates views on being green!  Read on for more info!

The Civic Betterment Committee (CBC) is a non-partisan community organization here in Glen Ellyn that recruits potential candidates for Village and Library elected offices, helps them understand the duties of the office, presents qualified candidates at the Town Meeting, and assists those selected by residents to navigate the municipal election process. Since 1931, most elected officials in Glen Ellyn have been candidates who have been selected in the CBC election. Therefore, the Civic Betterment Committee's Town Meeting and local election on November 2nd has the effect of a primary for Village President, Trustee, Library Board, and Village Clerk.

Candidates to be selected in this CBC election will be for the following offices: Village President (1); Village Trustee (3);  Library Board (4) and Village Clerk (1). The CBC election (aka "Town Meeting") takes place this year on November 2.

What does Go Green think about the candidates?

As a 501c3, Go Green Glen Ellyn is a nonpartisan organization and does not support particular candidates or parties. However, we do support making it easier for residents and businesses in Glen Ellyn to be greener - that's our mission, after all! And therefore, we as an organization are interested in the future elected leaders of our community.

We sent questions to the potential Village President and Trustee candidates. The questions were:

  1. What does being sustainable mean to you?

  2. The village comprehensive plan was approved in 2023. It has a number of sustainability goals.  Which elements would you prioritize and champion as a trustee/president?  Could you provide an example of how you might do this?

  3.  Other comments for Go Green Glen Ellyn?

We are pleased that ALL the candidates took time to provide thoughtful and thorough responses to our questions

We would like to thank the candidates for taking the time to respond and wish everyone the best in the upcoming election!
