Plans for $75M+ Transportation Garage, fuel station, and salt shed to be built on DuPage Fairgrounds green space

ACTION ALERT: The DuPage County Board plans to fast-track a currently unfunded $75M garage project that is planned for Fairgrounds greenspace. This is a new building project which will be presented for the first time Tuesday 11/26 at 8AM in the Finance Committee of the County Board. The vote is scheduled to happen at the next full board meeting on December 10. Our view is that this matter needs further scrutiny with regard to land use plans, environmental impact, neighborhood input, budget use, etc. prior to a vote.

To voice your concern, you can show up in person at the finance meeting and make public comment, submit a public comment online, write a letter to the editor, or email board members your concern. The county just spent $250k to examine the feasibility of an arts center/concert venue on this space -- so where does that come into play? We know this space is underutilized, but needs broader thinking about how it could best meet DuPage resident needs.  Let's encourage the county board to take some additional time to consider this project in the context of an overall plan for land use and to get public input.  Please alert others!
