2024 Annual Report
As I reflect on how we started, and where Go Green is today, I feel proud and humbled by all we've done so far. Looking at the numbers, I'm even surprised myself on all we accomplished! When did we sleep this past year? :)
LEARN
Many of you readers have sent us notes of appreciation, volunteered at our events, introduced us to someone who could help us, donated money or time, dropped off items to be recycled with us, attended a presentation of ours, or sent this newsletter to a friend. Your enthusiasm and appreciation for our work, more than anything else, fuels our organization (well, the donations also help :)) There are days when this work feels very challenging, and somehow those seem to be precisely the days when I hear from someone in the community about a helpful newsletter or a sustainable swap they made because of us. We wouldn't be here without your support. From the bottom of my green heart, and on behalf of our Board, thank you.
I'm often asked to present at our local elementary schools. I explain how Go Green Glen Ellyn began by saying, "My friends and I had an idea to start a group to help the environment in our community, so we started Go Green." I say this because I hope to inspire the students that this is really all it takes - a friend or two, an idea, and the will and work to bring the idea to life. I hope Go Green Glen Ellyn can serve as an inspiration to you and our community of what we can do when we breathe life into an idea, work together, and see where it takes us. And know that this is just the beginning of our green journey.
