Go Green Glen Ellyn is a brand new, non-profit grassroots environmental organization dedicated to helping our village become greener and its citizens live more sustainably. We see it becoming a hub of information for local environmental resources as well as a catalyst for community activation.

Go Green has been proud to co-sponsor SportsSwap and Earth Day with the Park District, as well as the Flower Pot Walk and Tree Photo Contest with the Chamber. We publish a newsletter so you can learn, do, and participate in everyday environmental actions that make our community more healthy, more beautiful, and more environmentally friendly for all. The Glen Ellyn Environmental Commission seeks to provide resources for citizens such as the Recycling Extravaganza and Curbside Composting Program. It hosts informational programs on tree stewardship, native plants and pollinators and healthy lawns. The public is welcome to attend to provide public comment at commission meetings, held on the third Tuesday of the month.

The Environmental Concerns Organization (ECO) Club was started in 1991 at Glenbard West, dedicated to spreading the word about the climate crisis, pollution and other environmental issues. West students are encouraged to join!

The League of Women Voters of Glen Ellyn created this flower pot.

The League of Women Voters, a nonpartisan political organization, encourages the informed and active participation of citizens in government, works to increase understanding of major public policy issues, and influences public policy through education and advocacy.

The League’s Environmental Committee works on issues and positions for the local community to help promote sustainability in Glen Ellyn.

Founded in 2017, the non-profit organization Friends of the East Branch trail is working to get the East Branch DuPage River Trail (EBDRT) funded and built! It promotes the EBDRT through outreach to local organizations, petition drives and local events. It also works to advocate to local and national government officials. Biking and walking trails are an important part of a community, reduce carbon emissions, and promote healthy behaviors. Learn more about how you can get involved at the link below.

The District 41 Kids Foundation created this flower pot design.

The D41 Kids Foundation was created by a group of concerned residents for the purpose of creating a pathway for those in our community who want to make a greater investment in our schools. By pooling our resources, the Foundation is able to fund opportunities the school district would otherwise be unable to afford. This summer, take part in the Foundation Raffle to benefit the Dolly Parton Imagination Library and win a one-of-a-kind quilt and bookshelf! Look for their kid’s musical program and color run! Volunteers from the Glen Ellyn Public Library designed this flower pot. Read Trees by Joyce Kilmer and many other poems at the library. Each day you read this summer counts toward fabulous prizes during the library's 2022 Summer Reading program!

Prairie Food Co-op will be a community owned and democratically operated grocery store dedicated to strengthening our economy and creating a marketplace for transparently labeled, local, organic and sustainable food.

Prairie Food Co-op plans to open a full service, community owned groceries store that will stock as much local, sustainably-produced food and goods as possible. We are currently in the process of finding and securing a location in the Glen Ellyn/Lombard area.

We encourage all residents in our market area to join the over 1600 of their friends and neighbors in becoming a PFC Owner. Ownership is the building block of our community owned grocery store.
